I appreciate the book - lots of insights。 Chapter 9 was particularly great to know how Jensen leads。 You have to torture employees into greatness。 I look in the mirror every morning and say “You suck”。 Jensen has 60 direct reports。 And packed board meetings。 And his relentless drive to flatten the organization to disseminate the mission and optimize learning。 (I think this is similar to Musk’s leadership actually)。 The author pretty much confirming no known successor plan exists is concerning, a I appreciate the book - lots of insights。 Chapter 9 was particularly great to know how Jensen leads。 You have to torture employees into greatness。 I look in the mirror every morning and say “You suck”。 Jensen has 60 direct reports。 And packed board meetings。 And his relentless drive to flatten the organization to disseminate the mission and optimize learning。 (I think this is similar to Musk’s leadership actually)。 The author pretty much confirming no known successor plan exists is concerning, although that’s typically how founder-led tech companies are (Tesla for one), and leaders like Jensen are bound to create great leaders (I hope)。 。。。more

This workmanship biography is fine for what it is, but it veers too hard into hagiography of Jensen for most of the book (which is fine, he doesn’t seem as psychotic as some of his other Silicon Valley peers)。 What struck me was Jensen’s seeming absence for the first 10-20% of the story, seemingly in the background to his other 2 cofounders。 And then there’s the whole work ethic corporate culture overview – who’s impressed by the cars in the lot on the weekends and late into the evenings? A Timely Read Amid Nvidia’s Market Shake-UpI was halfway through this book when, on January 27, Nvidia’s stock plummeted live on air following the surprise release of China’s new AI model, DeepSeek。 The market reaction was striking—investors had long assumed that cutting-edge AI was impossible without Nvidia’s high-end chips, which China lacks access to due to U。S。 export controls。 But if DeepSeek has truly figured out how to run advanced AI on widely available chips, that’s a game-changer。This A Timely Read Amid Nvidia’s Market Shake-UpI was halfway through this book when, on January 27, Nvidia’s stock plummeted live on air following the surprise release of China’s new AI model, DeepSeek。 The market reaction was striking—investors had long assumed that cutting-edge AI was impossible without Nvidia’s high-end chips, which China lacks access to due to U。S。 export controls。 But if DeepSeek has truly figured out how to run advanced AI on widely available chips, that’s a game-changer。This book gave me valuable insight into why Nvidia’s stock had been so highly inflated relative to its actual revenue and how its organizational structure relies heavily on CEO Jensen Huang。 The author makes a compelling case that Huang isn’t just leading Nvidia—he is Nvidia。 With the AI landscape shifting fast, this book is more relevant than ever。 。。。more

It’s a comprehensive story about how NVIDIA came to be。 I wouldn’t peg it to be a book that’s strong in prose, but in a way, that’s good。 The author presents details in a very direct and clear manner, so it’s an easy read to get through。 Some strong aspects about the storytelling were:1) the author interviewed many people to get a holistic picture, avoiding a subjective view of “here’s a story of how great Jensen Huang is” 2) you get a lot of insight into how Jensen runs the company, and his int It’s a comprehensive story about how NVIDIA came to be。 I wouldn’t peg it to be a book that’s strong in prose, but in a way, that’s good。 The author presents details in a very direct and clear manner, so it’s an easy read to get through。 Some strong aspects about the storytelling were:1) the author interviewed many people to get a holistic picture, avoiding a subjective view of “here’s a story of how great Jensen Huang is” 2) you get a lot of insight into how Jensen runs the company, and his intellect and personality really show through; it feels like you get to know the essence of who Jensen is 3) certain technical concepts are explained in depth without feeling oversimplified, and any tangents describing other competitor companies are relevant to understanding the main company’s storyline 4) the book is very recently published from when I read this, so it does give an insider take on the future prospects of AI。 The book makes Jensen out to be very hardcore in his work life, which I’m sure he is, if possible I would’ve liked to know more about how his intensity impacted his personal life, who influenced his work ethic, and how he handles balancing his family in the midst of the workload。 The book talks early on about some of his formative experiences, but doesn’t address it at all later on。 Overall, still a great book, highly recommend and very admirable story 。。。more

Very enjoyable and concise representation of the Nvidia story, given that it spans over 3 decades。 Aside from historical retelling I like that the authors dive into the why’s and the how’s of decisions made leading to major Nvidia breakthroughs and failures, and how they rate to each other throughout the years。 There was less emphasis on the more recent history on the genAI boom, where I feel some additional detail could be added in future prints once it has settled down a bit。

I am not going to rate highly a book that idolises a CEO who expects 60-80 hour working weeks from all of his employees。 Moreover: "Fear and anxiety were Jensen's favourite motivational tools"。 I don't care that he built a massive company and made shrewd decisions in doing so。 Shall we quantify the destroyed marriages and wounded children of his employees in his quest for greater wealth and power? I am glad I have left the IT industry。 Disgusting。 I am not going to rate highly a book that idolises a CEO who expects 60-80 hour working weeks from all of his employees。 Moreover: "Fear and anxiety were Jensen's favourite motivational tools"。 I don't care that he built a massive company and made shrewd decisions in doing so。 Shall we quantify the destroyed marriages and wounded children of his employees in his quest for greater wealth and power? 。。more
